Hi friends! Today, I present to you the first edition of my most anticipated book releases for 2022! First things first: why “first edition” Cierra? Well, instead of doing one long post for every book being released in 2022, I decided I wanted to switch it up and do 4 quarterly anticipated releases posts throughout the year! So, this 1.0 post will list my most anticipated releases for January – March, then 2.0 will list releases set for April – June; 3.0 for July – September; and finally, 4.0 for October – December!
I also currently have no anticipated releases for January, so we’re starting out with February. Alright, without further ado, here are my most anticipated releases for the first quarter of 2022! Click on any of the book covers to see them on Goodreads!
February 2022 Releases
#1: And We Rise by Erica Martin (Release date: February 1st)

In stunning verse and vivid use of white space, Erica Martinโs debut poetry collection walks readers through the Civil Rights Movementโfrom the well-documented events that shaped the nationโs treatment of Black people, beginning with the โSeparate but Equalโ rulingโand introduces lesser-known figures and moments that were just as crucial to the Movement and our nation’s centuries-long fight for justice and equality.
A poignant, powerful, all-too-timely collection that is both a vital history lesson and much-needed conversation starter in our modern world. Complete with historical photographs, authorโs note, chronology of events, research, and sources.
#2: League of Liars by Astrid Scholte (Release date: February 22nd)

Ever since his mother was killed, seventeen-year-old Cayder Broduck has had one goalโto see illegal users of magic brought to justice. People who carelessly use extradimensional magic for their own self-interest, without a care to the damage it does to society or those around them, deserve to be punished as far as Cayder is concerned. Because magic always has a price. So when Cayder lands a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to apprentice under a premier public defender, he takes it. If he can learn all the tricks of public defense, the better he’ll be able to dismantle defense arguments when he’s a prosecutor. Then he’ll finally be able to make sure justice is served.
But when he meets the three criminals he’s supposed to defend, it no longer seems so black and white. They’re teenagers, like him, and their stories are…complicated, like his. Vardean, the prison where Cayder’s new clients are incarcerated, also happens to be at the very heart of the horrible tear in the veil between their world and another dimension–where all magic comes from.
League of Liars is a dark and twisty mystery set in a richly-drawn world where nothing is as it seems, rife with magic, villains, and danger.
To be quite honest, I saw Astrid Scholte and immediately added this to my TBR. I loved loved loved reading The Vanishing Deep in 2020, so I’m more than excited to read another work by this author!
March 2022 Releases
#1: The Lost Dreamer by Lizz Huerta (Release date: March 1st)

Indir is a Dreamer, descended from a long line of seers; able to see beyond reality, she carries the rare gift of Dreaming truth. But when the beloved king dies, his son has no respect for this time-honored tradition. King Alcan wants an opportunity to bring the Dreamers to a permanent endโan opportunity Indir will give him if he discovers the two secrets she is struggling to keep. As violent change shakes Indirโs world to its core, she is forced to make an impossible choice: fight for her home or fight to survive.
Saya is a seer, but not a Dreamerโshe has never been formally trained. Her mother exploits her daughterโs gift, passing it off as her own as they travel from village to village, never staying in one place too long. Almost as if theyโre running from something. Almost as if theyโre being hunted. When Saya loses the necklace sheโs worn since birth, she discovers that seeing isnโt her only giftโand begins to suspect that everything she knows about her life has been a carefully-constructed lie. As she comes to distrust the only family sheโs ever known, Saya will do what sheโs never done before, go where sheโs never been, and risk it all in the search of answers.
With a detailed, supernaturally-charged setting and topical themes of patriarchal power and female strength, Lizz Huerta’s The Lost Dreamer brings an ancient world to life, mirroring the challenges of our modern one.
